Macbeth’s indecisiveness

When Macbeth says: “who can be wise and astounded, calm and furious, loyal and neutral, all at the same time? Nobody.” ( 2.3.119-120) Macbeth gives a double meaning to this quote when he explains it is impossible to be two different people at once. This is ironic because Macbeth is a Hypocrite. Macbeth is a hypocrite because he said it’s impossible to be two different people at once yet he is doing it. Macbeth kept going back forth wether he should kill Duncan or not. First he wanted kill him then he didn’t and then he did kill him and after he felt terrible that he did. This shows how indecisive Macbeth is. Napoleon is the same person as Macbeth. Napoleon was indecisive wether he wanted his wife or not. Macbeth did not know wether to kill duncan or not. Napoleon did not know wether to keep his wife or not and he did.

  1. It is unclear how the idea that Macbeth is a hypocrite relates to the idea that Macbeth is an indecisive person. I do not see the connection between these two ideas. Please explain.
